A West Coast attitude, DIY roots, and mainstream aspirations come together in the genetic makeup of Black Pontiac: a band that has come a long way in a relatively short time. Since their formation in 2018, the Vancouver, BC quartet has steadily been making a name for themselves, selling out shows in their hometown, opening for acts such as Peach Pit and lovelytheband, amassing over 8 million streams on Spotify, and providing pregame and between period entertainment at Rogers Arena for the Vancouver Canucks. A fresh face in the rock world that draws from acts such as Cage the Elephant and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Pontiac is known for their energetic live performances and has aimed to reflect that in their latest release “PONYBOY 2”. The band consists of lead singer Matt Purkiss, brothers Mac and Sam Riddell on guitar and drums respectively, and Avery John Shoesmith on bass.

PONYBOY 2 – 2024 The band’s latest EP is a cohesive collection of energetic and pit-ready songs, honed extensively through Black Pontiac’s many signature live performances. The lead single Blue Blood Baby is a fan favorite, featuring an iconic guitar riff, with exceptional story-telling prowess.
From Bad To Worse (And Back Again) - 2022
The long-awaited debut studio album of Black Pontiac, featuring a mix of matured, fan-favourite material, and newer bops such as Island Honey. Produced by Matt Di Pomponio, it possesses raw rock intensity in tracks such as Soda Pop Rock, and slower atmospheric tracks such as Slow Dance At The Disco.
PONYBOY - 2019 The Ponyboy EP was the first studio work of the band. Produced by Darren Grahn, this EP includes the November State Of Mind single which has amassed over 2 million streams on Spotify alone.
